5 Hot New Trends For Spring
It may be difficult for those in cooler climates to imagine what the new spring wardrobe trends will be. But the runway has already featured many of the looks outlined below on Paris, New York and Milan catwalks.
1. Fashion Layers
Transition clothing will always be popular, as people get ready for spring after a cold winter. Thanks to global warming, temperatures can be erratic, so keeping clothes that can be layered around is a good strategy. For example, lightweight denim dresses can also be worn with heavy Sherpa style jackets. Skirts and oversized tunics are always good until you can break out the sandals.
Spring fashions usually call for pastel colors and fresh floral prints. However, this spring season, designers have placed the emphasis onto stronger and bolder statements, like black against white. These items are easy to find at every budget level and go easily from day to night. This spring will also include peekaboo styles with cutouts, midriff baring pieces, splits and the ever present sheer fabric. Bold stripes will be making a comeback as well, which are always wearable in seasons to come.
3. Bold Accessories
From oversized 70s sunglasses to temporary tattoos, accessories can change the entire perception of an outfit. Because of how individualized they are, temporary tattoos have always been popular among celebrities. Stars like Justin Timberlake have worn custom temporary tattoos for various movie roles. Ideal for entertainers who change gears frequently, a temporary tattoo has the same effect as permanent one, without all of the hassle. Regular folk are now wearing temporary tattoos to change up their look for a weekend or longer, switching or removing anytime they like. In fact, they can even be designed to match outfits. Because they are so affordable, it is easy to get different ones on a regular basis.
4. Chunky Heels
Shoes this spring are expected to include major changes. The chunky heel is making a comeback in lightweight and comfortable chic styles to replace sky high stilettos and heavy platforms. Kitten heels and flats are on trend with all colors, from bold to neutral, patterns and embellishments. These styles are designed to be worn day and night and are much more comfortable than teetering on pointed heels.
5. Large Hats for Men
Men’s Fashions for spring 2013 are slated to include military styles with an eye toward the futuristic. Large hats and pants cut to expose boots are also expected to be popular. Traditional patterns such as Prince of Wales check, hounds tooth and madras add a postmodern esthetic.
Dress wear styles will feature clear, metallic and mesh designs. The sexy strappy styles, as seen on the runways, will also remain. Spring shoes for men mean goodbye to socks. Whether casual or dress, the trend is to show some skin for a more edgy and urban feel. From sixties retro to checks and Asian inspired prints, spring 2013 is expected to bring refreshing changes with new looks for both men and women.
