How to keep Canadian babies and newborns warm

Posted by Miriam Lamey on December 16, 2009 in Babies & Kids

The weather outside might be frightful in some parts of Canada and yet the season has only just begun. If you don't want you and your newborn to be housebound this winter, it's time to start thinking about snuggly, insulating options to keep your little bundle of joy just toasty warm over the holiday season - and beyond.

According to Celebrity Baby Blog, more than one newborn has been spotted wrapped up to the nines in cuddly, designer outerwear. Many famous moms seem to go for all-in-one snowsuits to keep baby away from the cold. For example, Gwen Stefani was reportedly out and about with her little one snuggled up in a knit one-piece snow suit, with both mittens and feet to keep tiny fingers and toes warm.

Not only does a newborn have to be protected from the cold when he or she is outside - taking baby out of a warm bath might also expose them to a chill.

Luckily, the Montreal Gazette has an eco-friendly answer to keep your newborn warm, dry and close to you. The Bamboobino is made from organic cotton and bamboo and is worn by either parent while taking the newborn from the bath. An extended piece of cloth allows for wrapping baby up, straight from the water.
